Vision

of Black Women Collective

A world where systemic barriers no longer limit the economic opportunity of Black women. We aspire to be Canada’s leading non-profit collective mobilizing resources, mentorship, and funding to secure generational wealth, influence, and leadership for Black women entrepreneurs.

Mission

of Black Women Collective

To serve and empower Black women entrepreneurs across Canada and beyond through accessible, high-impact education, mentorship, and financial literacy programs. We cultivate a supportive, accountability-driven community that helps Black women build and sustain resilient, thriving businesses.

The Origin story

Fixing crowns, building legacies.

What began as a small meetup in Brampton during the pandemic quickly revealed a pattern: Black women were showing up hungry for community, mentorship, and access, and there weren’t systems built for us. In response, we built the Black Women Collective. In 2023 we incorporated as a not-for-profit to scale the impact: building partnerships, running high-impact programs, and creating pathways to capital, education, and visibility. Our work is rooted in lived experience, community research, and a commitment to collective economic empowerment.

Why We Exist

1. Race + Gender Bias

Double discrimination in hiring, lending, and procurement.

2. Access to Capital

Less access to small business loans, venture funding, and favorable credit.

3. Networking & Visibility Gaps

Exclusion from networks that lead to contracts and partnerships.

4. Caregiving & Time Poverty

Disproportionate unpaid care responsibilities limit time for business growth.

5. Immigrant / Refugee Status

Credential recognition, language barriers, and settlement costs.

6. Socioeconomic Background

Fewer generational financial resources to invest in business risk.
