Throughout my sixty-four years, I've been fortunate to accumulate a diverse array of skills, expertise, and experiences that have enriched my personal and professional journey. Born in Great Britain in 1961, my parents—who were a young married couple aged 21 at the time—immigrated to Canada in 1963. We became an integral part of a close-knit Caribbean community in Toronto.
This strong sense of community and extended family has endured to this day, fostering a deep appreciation for the importance of social bonds and community development. My academic pursuits and thirty-year career in Social Sciences, Community Development, and Social Justice have been driven by a passion to create positive change.
As a dedicated mother and wife, I've balanced my personal and professional life, always striving to nurture and support those around me. Today, I am an active and strong advocate for the importance of Black women understanding how physical fitness and nutrition shape the pathway to living life with full vitality and purpose.
We are gifted with one body—our temple—which we should honour. As a board member of TBWC, I'm committed to empowering women to share their stories, pursue their aspirations, and reach their full potential, fostering a community that flourishes and excels together.
