Vision

of Black Women Collective

A world where systemic barriers no longer limit the economic opportunity of Black women. We aspire to be Canada’s leading non-profit collective mobilizing resources, mentorship, and funding to secure generational wealth, influence, and leadership for Black women entrepreneurs.

Mission

of Black Women Collective

To serve and empower Black women entrepreneurs across Canada and beyond through accessible, high-impact education, mentorship, and financial literacy programs. We cultivate a supportive, accountability-driven community that helps Black women build and sustain resilient, thriving businesses.

The Origin story

It's always about fixing each other's crowns

In 2021, during a time of social isolation and uncertainty, a group of Black women in the Greater Toronto Area started meeting online to trade ideas, resources, and encouragement. That meetup quickly became more than a social connection; it revealed clear, recurring barriers: difficulty accessing mentorship, capital, and tailored programming that understands our lived realities. Supported by local partners and an incubator at the Brampton Entrepreneurial Centre, we undertook research, listened to hundreds of community voices, and designed programs that address systemic gaps.

What began as a sole-proprietor initiative evolved into a formal not-for-profit in March 2023, a collective infrastructure built to connect Black women entrepreneurs with the tools, networks, and funding they need to build resilient, profitable businesses. We are a community of entrepreneurs, mentors, partners, and funders committed to mutual uplift because when Black women win, communities win.
